Support for seniors
Protecting the most vulnerable seniors and ensuring a quality of life for LTC residents is a top priority.
Peel Region manages 5 Long Term Care (LTC) centres.
Together they have one shared goal and commitment: to provide compassionate, loving and respectful care to individuals and their caregivers in their time of need.
Actions we’re taking
Peel’s aging population is growing fast.
This rapid growth contributes to understaffing and other already-increasing pressures in the senior services sector. Rising pressures resulting from this significant growth presents challenges and opportunities for Peel Region and the federal and provincial governments to collaborate.
The time to act is now.
We’re recommending that some of the critical issues impacting long-term care are prioritized by our federal and provincial partners.
Peel Region is advocating for:
- More accurate and complete costing estimates. This will ensure that the Region receives an appropriate amount of provincial funding to implement new mandated measures in long-term care homes
- Person-centered care and specialized dementia supports
- Sustainable operational funding for more community support services at the Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor.
