The Region of Peel takes pride in ensuring that its residents are provided with clean and safe water, free of any pollutants that could jeopardize their health.

The Region of Peel treats its source water to remove contaminants and regularly tests the water quality to ensure customers are provided with high quality drinking water. Tests are performed on thousands of water samples collected throughout the year, including testing for microbiological parameters, inorganic and organic parameters, operational checks as well as any additional testing carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements. Test results prove the Region of Peel municipal water is of excellent quality.

Microbiological samples are sent to an accredited laboratory and tested for E. Coli, Total Coliform and a broad group of bacteria. The results are provided to the Region of Peel and reviewed by the Water Quality and Compliance staff. If the results fail to meet the regulatory requirements in the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standards (Regulation 169/03) the necessary corrective action is initiated and the event is reported in accordance with the drinking water legislation.
