Watermain system improvements
Indian Grove from South Sheridan Way to 1395 Indian Grove. Project 13-1347 H1
Update on construction in your area
The Region of Peel has replaced the aging watermain on Indian Grove as part of our maintenance program. The previous watermain was installed in the 1950s and was at the end of its lifespan. A larger watermain that provides water to the Lorne Park area was also installed along with the smaller (local) watermain on Indian Grove. The local watermain is on one side of the street with the larger watermain on the opposite side of the street.
Project update
The Contractor received utility locates today, which means we can begin repairing curbs, sidewalks, driveways, sprinkler systems, and sod (grass). We expect to start restoration work tomorrow, Wednesday, June 8th (weather permitting). We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience.
Coming up in the next few weeks
- You can expect to see the removal of curb and sidewalks starting tomorrow.
- The Contractor will then begin installing a subdrain (underground drain) on the west side of Indian Grove, starting near South Sheridan Way and working towards Indian Road.
- This work will be followed by curb restoration then sidewalk restoration on the west side of Indian Grove, before this work begins on the east side of the road.
- During curb and sidewalk restoration, you will not have vehicle access to your driveway for 2-3 days while the concrete is being poured and is curing. Please park your vehicle on the opposite side of the street from the work during this time. The Contractor will coordinate with affected residents 24-48 hours before the work. Please contact us if you have special needs related to access.
- Driveway, sprinkler, and sod restoration will follow once all curb and sidewalk has been installed.
Reducing the impact of construction
- For everyones safety, please take care and slow down when driving through the active construction area. It is safer if residents access their property from the south end of Indian Grove if their property is south of the active construction area, and from the north end if their property is north of construction.
- We may need to block your driveway for a short time. Pedestrian access will always be maintained.
- If we must shut off your water because of an emergency, we will do everything we can to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
- We will let you know if there are any significant project changes.
