We protect the public from immediate risk from infectious diseases and outbreaks such as Tuberculosis (TB), Hepatitis B, Meningococcus, Gonorrhea and E. coli through inspections, immunization, education and other Public Health control measures.

The Region continues to provide the Hepatitis B vaccination in 241 schools each year, including catch up clinics for students who were not able to be immunized in Grade 7. The Region continues to monitor immunization coverage among children post grade 7 to assess changes in vaccination status and determine long-term trends.
