2019 Grown in Peel guides now available: buy locally-grown vegetables & fruit

Brampton, ON (May 13, 2019) – Peel residents can now pick up the new 2019 Grown in Peel guide or find it online by visiting www.GrowninPeel.ca. The guide features locally-grown vegetables and fruit that are available in Peel and indicates when they are in season. Peel residents can also learn what is available in their local nurseries and greenhouses, and where to find other farm-fresh products, such as meat, eggs and honey.

This year’s guide features 33 farms, retailers and farmers markets in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga, plus an easy-to-read map that shows how to find each location.

The guide includes availability charts that show when it’s seasonal to buy almost 50 kinds of fruits and vegetables, as well as different varieties of apples, pears and plums.

“Pick up this year’s Grown in Peel guide to find something fresh to eat or fun to do this spring,” says Dr. Jessica Hopkins, the Region’s Medical Officer of Health. “The Region of Peel is committed to making it easy for Peel residents to find fresh, flavourful locally-grown fruits and vegetables. So, check out the guide to find more than 50 healthy, delicious seasonal products and a variety of ways to enjoy a family outing at one of Peel’s farms or markets.”

The Grown in Peel guide is available free of charge at participating farms and farmers’ markets plus Peel libraries, fairs and municipal buildings. Residents can also request a copy by emailing growninpeel@peelregion.ca.
